Based in Prairie, MN, Datalink’s bespoke solutions are tailored to optimize the mission critical IT infrastructure in an organization. The firm’s diverse portfolio of unified solutions is the result of its long standing partnership with leading IT vendors like NetApp and many others. Datalink focuses on offering its customers the unique option of accessing their virtual labs to validate solutions before deployment to get a better perspective on how they can seamlessly merge with an existing IT infrastructure.
With a deep expertise in server virtualization solutions, the company specializes in providing non-disruptive and phased data migration services. Datalink offers a documented migration methodology that helps its clients in transitioning successfully to flexible solutions like NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP (cDOT). The company’s fine tuned procedures help integrate cDOT’s enhanced storage options without disrupting the mission critical applications in real time environment.
A recent project undertaken by Datalink for Trek Bicycle Corporation, a global cycling products manufacturer, involved data center relocation that included a separate pre-production and production migration from Trek’s Waterloo headquarters to a tier 3 facility. The goal of this advanced level operation was to strengthen the company’s data center infrastructure while freeing up the in-house data center space, solving bandwidth issues and improving disaster recovery.
“Moving a data center requires a different set of skills and tools than other IT projects; not to mention hundreds of hours of planning and project management as well as precision timing,” says Steve Zipperman, VP Advanced Services, Datalink.“Without a partner with specific experience and proven methodologies, the risk of missed deadlines, broken equipments, and unplanned downtime increases exponentially.”
Datalink has partnered up with NetApp to provide storage solutions that augment the operational efficiencies of Fortune 500 and mid-tier enterprises worldwide
Datalink has also forayed into the higher education sector with data management solutions that has helped institutions like Guilford College of Greensboro, North Carolina, revamp their storage architecture. Datalink successfully deployed a 48TB NetApp FAS2240 storage system to help support the growing administrative requirements of the educational institution. This was followed by the deployment of a 28TB NetApp FAS2240 storage system with NetApp SnapMirror software to speed up the disaster recovery mechanism. “With Datalink’s extensive knowledge of NetApp technology and data migration best practices, we managed to migrate an entire foundational infrastructure in the equivalent of five days,” says Craig Gray, Chief Information Officer at Guilford College.
Datalink is in the process of diversifying its repertoire of services under the dynamic leadership of its President and CEO, Paul Lidsky. Lidsky’s competitive growth strategy and innovation prowess has propelled Datalink from a virtual storage reseller to a full services data center solutions provider. “Our growth has been a team effort and one that has been particularly gratifying in light of the changes that have taken place in the technology industry over the last few years,” says Lidsky.
